The Republicans are the greedy hubby who insisted on a pre-nup. The Democrats are the wife with a big heart who spends too much. She points out that the kids need new shoes, grandma needs medicine and the dog needs dental implants. But hubby doesn't give a hoot. All that matters to him is building up his bank account, which, incidentally, is NOT a joint account. They live in a heavily mortgaged home on the San Avarice fault line.
In spite of all the lip service and lip praise we give it, the Creative Process seems to be something many of us take for granted or ignore. Commonly, we spend huge portions of our day doing stuff that is not creative at all, at least not in any fashion that we would be proud to claim as truly creative.
We don't appreciate creativity. We think it's something we can turn on or off at will, something we can take or leave, something we own -- creativity in our hip pocket. We don't notice our perpetual immersion in the most extraordinary creative process of all, a.k.a. the present moment of ever changing experience. Compared to THAT, our little spits and spurts of creative endeavor are pretty lame. When the Bhagavad Gita says "The Lord is the only Doer", it is THAT to which it refers. That 'Lord' (conveniently anthromorphized) is this infinitely complex, spontaneous creative process a.k.a. THAT WHICH IS LIVING US RIGHT NOW, APPEARING IN US and AS US and AS ALL WE SEE, FEEL, HEAR, TOUCH, TASTE and CONCEIVE. Excuse the cap letter shouting, but it amazes me how that which is most astonishingly present is most overlooked... 'SPANDA' it's called in Sanskrit -- the spontaneous energetic living manifestation of ALL, moment to moment, out of 'nothing'. Some nothing. |
